Equine Therapy

Wild Rose Ranch thrives on being a multifaceted facility, as such, is pleased and excited to welcome and announce the addition of B.R.E.A.THE. (Baraboo River Equine-Assisted Therapies, Inc.) to our space.

B.R.E.A.THE. is a non-profit organization who are utilizing the stables to fulfill their mission of providing equine-assisted activites and therapies to children and adults with special needs while supporting the physical, mental, and emotional health of each individual in their interaction with horses and staff.

What is Equine Therapy?

Equine Therapy brings together individuals with special needs and horses to create healing; physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Riding a horse rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to human gait, so riders with physical needs often show improvement in flexibility, balance, muscle strength, circulation, and breathing.

The unique relationship formed with the horse provides such benefits as increased confidence, patience, and self-esteem.

Who is it for?

Some of the needs served by Equine Therapy include:

ADD or other Hyperactivity Disorder, Mental Retardation, At-Risk Youth, Emotional, Behavioral Challenges, MS Stroke/CVA, Autism, Head Trauma/Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Substance Abuse, Hearing, Speech, and Visual Impairment.
